Frequently Asked Questions

A history tour is an experience, where a tour guide takes you around an area and presents information about a location’s history. We will walk with you through an area in Western North Carolina and tell you some interesting things about the buildings and the people from the past.

Unless otherwise indicated, your tour will be completely outdoors. We hope to offer different types of tours in the future, but currently they are all taking place outside.

Unless otherwise indicated, your tour will be on foot. We hope to offer different types of tours in the future, but currently they are all walking tours. We don’t walk terribly fast, and there is also a fair amount of standing

Generally most of our tours take 1-2 hours. We hope to expand our offerings to different types of tours and possibly day trips in the future. Unless otherwise indicated, you can plan on about an hour and a half of leisurely walking and talking.

If it rains its usual, healthy light shower, our tour will continue unabated. If inclement weather determines that the tour should be canceled, the tour guide agent will make the call no less than one hour prior to the start time.
If you must cancel, please do so as soon as possible to maximize opportunities for others to enjoy the tours. Canceling 48 hours or more ahead of the scheduled event will guarantee you a full refund. If you cancel within 25-48 hours, expect a refund of 50%. If you cancel within 24 hours, please do not expect a refund. What? Why? That’s ridiculous. Your booking potentially limited a spot on the tour for another guest who could have enjoyed the tour. Additionally, an agent has already planned their day (or even the week!) around your booking.

If you need accommodations for a disability of any kind, please let our agents know at the time of booking. We will do anything we can to assist your enjoyment!

Choose the best date and time for your tour by using our calendar on the home page. If you prefer, feel free to call, text, or email us. Our contact information is at the bottom of this page.

Adult tickets are $30. Tickets for children under 14 are $13.

Yes, you may bring your pet, as long as they are on a leash, and please mind local ordinances about picking up after them.

There are discounts, which are usually available for a limited time, so keep your eyes out for those promos. Contact us by email about scheduling a group tour. Please include the number of guests (or an estimate) and which tours and dates you’re most interested in enjoying.

You may record any portion of the tour. Please tag us if you post it on social media! @WNCHistoryTours

Dress comfortably, with good shoes for walking, and consider wearing rainboots or packing an umbrella. (Western NC is in a deciduous rainforest, and thus, we do experience light showers regularly.) Ask your guide questions about the area or the tour! If we don’t know the answer, we will want to find out, and can email you a response later.

As accurate as the research and time constraints will allow! This is a guided tour that lasts about two hours, not a time-traveling event. If you have information you think our agency should know or share, please share it with us in the “Contact Us” form. After all, history is composed from all of our stories!

I’m a huge fan of history and an entrepreneur. Tell me about your history in the sidebar, under “Contact Us!”
